Morning Reflections

Welcomed by Wings…

Every morning on the Venice Pier feels like walking into a reunion.

Before I even reach my usual spot, I can hear the flutter of wings. Then I see them. My own little welcoming committee racing through the sky, each bird bringing its own spark of joy. Their excitement is contagious. It’s impossible not to smile when they’re flying toward you with so much enthusiasm.

This morning, I was trying to zoom in on the sun as it peeked through the clouds. The light spilling through the breaks in the clouds looked almost heavenly. Just as I framed the perfect shot, a pigeon landed right on top of my phone and completely blocked the view.

I couldn’t stop laughing.

It was the sweetest reminder that not every beautiful moment is meant to be photographed. Some moments are meant to be lived.

That’s what these birds teach me every single day.

Honey Girl came up from behind, just like she always does, hoping for her favorite peanuts. Then Domino came as soon as I called her name, followed by what felt like an armful of pigeons. One after another, they landed on my hand… and a few decided my phone was the perfect place to perch too.

As I stood there surrounded by wings, I realized I already had the view I was searching for.

Sometimes life gently interrupts our plans to show us something even more beautiful.

Today, that lesson arrived with feathers.

I’m so grateful for these mornings, these friendships, and the reminder to stay present.

“You have always been the light.” 🕊️☀
