Morning Reflections
A Beautiful Morning and a Reminder to Slow Down…
What an incredibly beautiful morning at the Venice Pier!
I started my day at the gym before heading to my favorite place, where the most wonderful welcoming committee was waiting for me.
The birds were so happy to see me! There is truly nothing quite like the feeling of watching those beautiful wings come flying toward you from every direction. It’s a gift I never take for granted.
The sky was constantly changing, revealing new colors, shapes, and little surprises. The sunrise was absolutely breathtaking, with golden light peeking through the clouds. Afterward, the sky looked almost heavenly.
And the best part? We get to experience this beauty for free every single day, if we simply choose to open our eyes and notice.
I watched a magnificent pelican glide effortlessly over the water, barely skimming the waves. Such a majestic sight!
The pigeons were lined up along the railing, waiting patiently for their morning celebration. I held out my hand, and here they came, full of excitement and enthusiasm!
And of course, Honey Girl wasn’t about to let me leave without saying hello. She came up from behind, just as she always does, making sure I knew she was there. ❤️
Pegleg also made sure I saw him before leaving.
But today’s morning brought me something more than beautiful scenery and happy birds. It brought me a little reminder.
I had planned to squeeze in the gym, my morning at the pier, and yoga. Before I knew it, I was practically racing down the pier, throwing birdseed and handing out my little messages along the way!
I rushed to yoga, only to find the door locked. I was too late.
And that’s when it hit me.
Why was I rushing away from something I love so much just to get to the next thing?
I could have stayed a little longer, watched those beautiful wings, enjoyed the changing sky, and simply been present.
Instead, I was already thinking about where I needed to be next.
I went home and did my strength training instead, but I carried that little lesson with me.
Sometimes, in trying to fit everything into our day, we forget that the most precious moments aren’t something we need to schedule.
They’re already happening right in front of us.
“My favorite thing about the sky is no matter how often you check it, there’s always something new to notice.”
And perhaps that’s true of life, too.
There is always something beautiful waiting to be discovered when we slow down long enough to see it.
Sometimes the moment we’re rushing toward isn’t nearly as beautiful as the one we’re rushing away from.
Grateful for another beautiful morning, my feathered friends, and the little lessons they continue to teach me. ❤️
Capturing beauty, sharing light.
