The Things That Make Your Heart Smile…
This morning was another beautiful reminder that joy is often waiting in the little moments.
The birds saw me long before I saw them. Just like always, they came flying toward me and lined up along the railing, patiently waiting for breakfast. Harlequin was quietly waiting on the bench, Pearl was there to greet me, and it always makes me smile to see new faces becoming part of the family.
Honey Girl flew onto my shoulder from behind, right on schedule. She never misses her peanuts. Pegleg patiently waited in line, reminding me that everyone has a place. As I was leaving, a crow appeared, happily taking a peanut still in its shell. They seem to enjoy the challenge just as much as the reward.
Every morning on the pier teaches me something different. Today it reminded me that happiness isn’t something we have to chase. It’s something we notice when we’re paying attention.

These birds, this ocean, the sunrise, and the friendships we’ve built together fill my heart with gratitude every single day. I truly love my mornings.
