Morning Reflections

Morning Roll Call at the Pier…

This morning felt soft and peaceful under the gray coastal skies. The waves rolled in gently while surfers carried their boards toward the water, reflections stretching across the wet sand like little paintings. Even without sunshine, the pier was full of life.

All of the night herons were out early, perched high above the pier and lined along the railings, patiently hoping the fishermen would catch something good. They always look so serious, like tiny supervisors watching every cast into the ocean. One stood on the light pole like he had the best seat in the house.

Honey Girl was especially excited this morning and wasted no time reminding me that peanuts were expected immediately. Domino and Honey Girl were both so happy being held today, and moments like that never stop amazing me. The trust animals give when they feel safe is one of the greatest gifts.

A crow also made sure I noticed him. He strutted over with complete confidence as if to say, “Excuse me… I’m over here too.” I love how every bird has such a different personality.

One of my favorite moments was holding up my little orange message beside the night heron:

“My voice, words, ideas, and presence all matter. The world needs the magic inside of me.”

Sometimes the ocean, the birds, and the quiet mornings seem to echo those reminders back to us exactly when we need them most.

Grateful for mornings like this. Grateful for birds that remember kindness. Grateful for another day to witness the beauty around me.

Capturing beauty, sharing light.
