Morning Reflections
Hearts on Their Noses, Joy on Their Wings…
This morning, the pier greeted me with a sky brushed in soft gray, ocean calm, and birds louder than the clouds. They came from every direction — circling, swooping, calling — like confetti made of wings. The first hello always belongs to Pegleg. He never misses a morning, and today he led the parade.
Domino and Honey Girl were close behind, demanding peanuts like it was the grand opening of the day. They jumped on and off me, piling on top of one another, jockeying for position, stealing peanuts mid-air, and stealing my heart in the process. Their excitement was contagious — the kind that spreads without permission.
Then came Clubby, descending from above just to check in. She has one foot and a presence that feels like home. And the detail that melts me every time? The tiny hearts on their noses — like love signed their faces personally.
The ocean was quiet, but the moment was loud. A reminder that joy doesn’t need sunshine to shine. Sometimes, it arrives on wings, noses, and small, trusting hearts looking right back at you.
Gratitude lives in the details. And today, the details had hearts on their noses.
Capturing beauty, Sharing light
—April
Morning Gratitude Thought:
I am grateful for the kind of joy that finds me before the sun does. For birds that carry love on their noses and excitement on their wings. For peanuts shared, trust earned, commitments kept, and presence chosen. Thank You, God, for reminders that magic isn’t rare — it’s small, feathered, airborne, stacking itself shoulder-high, laughing in wings and landing gently in the heart. Capturing beauty, sharing light — that is the rhythm of my gratitude today.
