Evening Reflections
A Sunset Without the Sun…
This evening felt like a pause. No blazing sunset, no dramatic farewell in the sky. Just soft light, fog settling in, and the ocean breathing the way it always does—steady, patient, unconcerned with whether we notice or not. I stood in the sand beneath the pier, where the lines and circles of sand art had been carefully drawn earlier in the day. Even as footprints softened the edges, the intention was still there. A reminder that beauty doesn’t have to last to be meaningful. Surfers stood quietly, boards tucked under their arms, looking out toward the water. Not rushing in. Not rushing away. Just… being. As if gratitude itself had asked them to pause and they listened. Adonis was there too—high up on his light post, exactly where he belongs. Watching over everything like a silent guardian of the shoreline. There’s something comforting about his presence, like the beach acknowledging itself.
And then there was Pegleg. Pegleg, who now prefers shelled peanuts. He doesn’t bother opening his own anymore—why would he? He knows what’s available. He knows what’s coming. There’s a lesson in that kind of trust.
Tonight felt like a sunset without the sun—proof that even when the sky doesn’t perform, the moment still holds everything we need.

Evening Gratitude thought:
I’m grateful for quiet scenes.
For familiar birds.
For art made in sand.
For standing at the edge of the ocean with nothing to ask for. Just thankful to be here
