Evening Reflections
When the Fog Rolls In…
Tonight the marina felt like a dream. The fog rolled in slowly, wrapping the ocean, the pier, and the palm trees in a soft gray blanket. The surfers appeared like shadows rising and falling with the waves. It was one of those evenings where everything felt quieter, softer… almost like the world was taking a deep breath.
Even through the mist, the waves kept coming.
I watched surfers catching them one after another, silhouettes dancing across the water. It reminded me how much courage it takes to trust a wave you can barely see.
One of my favorite moments was when Pegleg found me. Somehow he always does. Out of all the fog and open sky, he still manages to land nearby like he’s saying hello.
Then a little willet sprinted past me, trying its best to outrun the camera, while a tiny sanderling raced the waves along the shoreline. Watching those little birds run with such determination always makes me smile.
When I turned around, the palm trees were barely visible through the fog, like faint brushstrokes on the horizon. And right there on the rail, a seagull stood staring back at me as if we were sharing the same quiet moment.
I love nights like this.
A different kind of sunset.
A different kind of beauty.
It reminded me of something simple but powerful:
“You don’t have to feel ready. You just have to stop waiting.”
The ocean doesn’t wait for perfect conditions.
The waves just keep coming.
And sometimes, the most beautiful moments happen when the world looks completely different than you expected.
I’m so grateful for these evenings by the water, for foggy skies, faithful bird friends, and the reminder that life is always moving forward… one wave at a time.
Capturing beauty, sharing light.
