Afternoon Reflections
When Nature Flies Toward Me…
Some afternoons feel like a gift wrapped in feathers and sunlight.
Today at the Venice Pier, the sky came alive as pigeons flew toward me from every direction. There is truly no better feeling in the world than being surrounded by birds who recognize you and choose to fly your way. Their wings filled the blue sky like little notes in a song only nature can write.
A colorful speedboat raced across the water while sailboats painted the horizon with bright splashes of pink, blue, green, and white. The ocean sparkled beneath them, creating a scene that felt almost too beautiful to be real.
One of my favorite moments was calling for Domino and watching her fly straight toward me. It never gets old. That feeling of connection is something I treasure every single day. Ebony was nearby too, making sure I noticed him as he jumped onto my phone, his favorite place to perch. He always makes me smile.
As I made my way back to my car, nature had one final surprise waiting. A great blue heron stood quietly by the water, taking a peaceful afternoon nap. As I approached, he sensed my presence and slowly opened his beautiful golden eye, as if saying hello before drifting back into his peaceful world.
Moments like these remind me why I love being outside. The birds, the ocean, the boats, the unexpected encounters. Every walk feels like a conversation with nature.
And today, nature answered back.
Grateful. 💙
Capturing beauty, sharing light.
