Morning Reflections
The Things That Truly Matter…
This morning on the pier felt like one of those beautiful reminders to appreciate what is right in front of us.
The sun was beginning to rise, painting the sky in soft gold and pink, when I spotted Pegleg. He was headed in one direction, saw me, and actually made a U-turn to come back. That will never stop making me smile.
And then, here they came.
The pigeons started flying toward me, filling the morning sky with wings before lining up along the railing. There really is no way to describe that feeling. No matter how many times it happens, it still feels so special to be greeted by them.
A cute little tern was taking a break on the pier, standing quietly in the warm morning sun as though he had nowhere else in the world he needed to be. Maybe he knew something we sometimes forget: there is beauty in simply stopping long enough to enjoy the moment.
Out on the water, two kayaks passed by while the waves rolled toward shore and another beautiful morning unfolded around me.
The quote I carried with me today said:
“When we understand that each day isn’t one more day, but one less, we’ll start giving more value to the things that truly matter.”
What a beautiful reminder.
The sunrise. The birds. Pegleg’s little U-turn. A tern resting in the sunshine. Two kayaks on a quiet ocean. None of these moments have to be extraordinary to be valuable.
Maybe the things that truly matter have been right in front of us all along.
So grateful for another morning, another sunrise, and another chance to notice it all.
Grateful. Always.
Capturing beauty, sharing light.
