Evening Reflections

The Sky Rewarded Me for Looking Up…

Tonight, Venice Beach reminded me that beauty has a way of arriving when we least expect it.

At first, it was the silhouette of a man standing at the very top of the “V.” Just as I lifted my phone, a seagull flew through the frame. It happened in an instant, yet it felt perfectly timed, as if the sky had quietly finished the photograph for me.

“The sky rewarded me for looking up.”

As the sun slipped below the horizon, I started walking back to my car, thinking the evening had already given me everything it had to offer. Then I heard laughter.

A man was sending giant bubbles dancing through the evening air. Children ran after them with pure joy, parents smiled, and for a few beautiful moments everyone seemed to be a kid again.

Just before I reached my car, I turned around one last time. The Venice sign was glowing in red, white, and blue against the fading sky. It felt like the perfect final chapter to an evening filled with unexpected gifts.

Then I remembered another little reminder I had carried with me all day:

“Watch more July sunsets than Netflix.”

Tonight, I did exactly that.

Sometimes the best moments don’t happen all at once. They unfold one beautiful surprise at a time… if we’re willing to keep looking up.

Grateful. 🤍

Capturing beauty, sharing light.
