Evening Reflections
The Ritual Matters…
Tonight, Venice Beach wore shades of gray.
There wasn’t much of a sunset. No dramatic colors spilling across the horizon. Just thick clouds, swaying palm trees, graffiti-covered walls, and the steady rhythm of the ocean breathing in and out.
Years ago, I might have been disappointed.
Now I know better.
The beauty was never only in the sunset. The beauty is in showing up.
It’s in making the walk. Feeling the sand beneath my feet. Looking up at the palms dancing in the wind. Watching people gather at the edge of the day. Holding a small reminder in my hand that said:
“Warrior… remind yourself of what you’ve been able to overcome. All the times you felt like you weren’t going to make it through. You proved yourself wrong. You’re more powerful than you think.”
The sky may not have put on a show tonight, but life still did.
And maybe that’s the lesson.
Not every day is spectacular.
But every day offers something beautiful if we’re willing to be present enough to see it.
Tonight, I am grateful for the ritual.
For the walk.
For the ocean.
For the reminder that showing up for yourself is its own victory.
Capturing beauty, sharing light.
