Evening Reflections

The Longest Light…

Tonight felt like a little gift wrapped in reflections.

The Venice Canals were calm, holding the colors of the fading sky like a mirror. Ducks seemed to be everywhere. Some raced toward me with determined little waddles, some floated quietly through the water, and others rested along the banks as if they knew there was nowhere else they needed to be.

Today is special for two reasons. Father’s Day and the Summer Solstice arrived together, giving us the longest day of the year and an opportunity to celebrate the people who help light our way.

As I walked, I thought about how lucky I am.

“I’m as lucky as can be, the world’s best dad belongs to me.”

My dad has always reminded me to take life one step at a time. Those simple words have carried me through more moments than he probably realizes.

And as the last light lingered over the canals, another message seemed to float across the water:

“Summer. Hair gets lighter. Skin gets darker. Water gets warmer. Drinks get colder. Music gets louder. Nights get longer. Life gets better.”

Tonight, the ducks, the reflections, the flowers, and the peaceful water all seemed to agree.

The longest day is ending, but gratitude has a way of stretching the light a little farther.

Capturing beauty, sharing light.
