Morning Reflections:

Joy in Motion

Surf, Wings, and a Butterfly’s Prayer

This morning felt like summer personified—sunlit and alive, wrapped in wingbeats and laughter. Seagulls, ravens, and my steadfast pigeons arrived in greeting. Honey Girl and Clubby landed right on cue, a duet of feathered devotion. Domino and Pegleg must’ve had an early breakfast—I missed them, but I know they’ll return. On the beach, surfers floated like question marks on the waves, waiting for the right moment. Jet skis zipped past in rhythm with pelicans racing toward the flag overhead. And then—dogs. Bounding. Spinning. Chasing each other like living exclamation points, joy in motion. Down by the canal, a sparrow watched from atop the welcome sign. Ducks zipped past in mirrored water. And just beside me, a butterfly paused to sip from something unseen—fuel for the road, or maybe a prayer.

Today's Gratitude:

  • For waves and wings in conversation.
  • For dogs who run as if the world were theirs (and it is).
  • For butterflies, surfers, sparrows, and stillness.
  • For the glorious, untamed choreography of a perfect summer morning.
