Morning Reflections

Something Money Can’t Buy…

There are some feelings in life you simply can’t buy, and this morning on the pier reminded me of that.

As soon as the birds began flying toward me, my heart was full. Their excitement never gets old. They circle overhead, swoop past me, line the railing and somehow make an ordinary morning feel like a celebration.

What makes it even more special is knowing that this kind of trust wasn’t created overnight. I earned it simply by showing up, day after day. They know me. They look for me. And when they see me, those little fly-bys feel like their own way of saying, “You’re here!”

Honey Girl made sure I saw her, the pigeons gathered for breakfast, and of course Pegleg had to make his appearance as if to say, “Don’t forget about me!”

I wish I could bottle up this feeling and hand it to someone who needs a little joy. It costs nothing, yet somehow feels priceless.

And today’s reminder couldn’t have been more perfect:

“Look up. Stay open. Life has surprises waiting for you.”

Sometimes those surprises arrive on wings.

So grateful for this beautiful morning, this beautiful trust, and another reminder that some of life’s greatest gifts can never be bought.

Grateful. Always.

Capturing beauty, sharing light.
