Evening Reflections

Reflections Tell the Truth…

Tonight at Oxford Basin felt like the world was gently whispering, slow down… look closer.

The sky melted into soft gold and peach as the sun tucked itself behind a line of tall, graceful palms. Their reflections stretched across the water like brushstrokes—perfectly imperfect, moving with every ripple. It’s one of my favorite things… how the water doesn’t just reflect what’s there, it interprets it.

The ducks were full of life tonight—racing across the surface like they were late for something important, then suddenly slowing down to splash and bathe like nothing else mattered. Two little ducks caught my attention, completely in their own joyful world, splish splashing without a care. Watching them, I couldn’t help but smile. They weren’t trying to impress anyone—they were just living.

In the distance, a great blue heron stood so still it almost didn’t seem real, like a quiet guardian of the basin. Above, seagulls traced their familiar path back toward the beach, silhouettes against the fading light.

And then one of my favorite moments… I looked down and spotted a tiny hummingbird resting. Just taking a break. Even the smallest, fastest creatures know when to pause.

That’s what I love most about these walks—when I slow down enough, I start to notice more… and the more I notice, the more beauty reveals itself.

Tonight’s message felt so aligned with everything I was seeing and feeling:

“The beauty you see in anything is a reflection of the beauty in you.”

Maybe that’s why moments like this feel so powerful. It’s not just what’s in front of us—it’s what’s being reflected back.

And there is so much beauty… everywhere.

Grateful for another sunset, another walk, another reminder.

Capturing beauty, sharing light.
