Evening Reflections

Paddleboards, Peace, and the Tree That Watches

Tonight, Burton Chace Park felt like a lullaby. The sun was radiant—glowing just enough to gild the tops of sailboats drifting slowly by. A couple floated past on a paddleboard, their dog nestled between them like joy wrapped in fur. Up in the trees, cormorants stirred, stretching their wings before bed—dark silhouettes against a sky just beginning to dim. And there it was again: that big, beautiful tree overlooking the water. Steady. Old. Always watching. It feels like part of the park’s heartbeat. This walk was a gentle punctuation to the day. No rush, no demands. Just water, wings, wood, and warmth.

Today's Gratitude:

  • Grateful for love that floats softly.
  • For birds that prepare for sleep in silence.
  • And for trees that witness it all with ancient grace.
