Morning Reflections

One Beautiful Page...

There are mornings that quietly slip by, and then there are mornings that leave an imprint on your heart. Today was one of those mornings.

The Venice Pier greeted me with soft golden light as the sun slowly broke through layers of clouds. The ocean was calm, the waves rolled in with their familiar rhythm, and the sky seemed to pause just long enough to remind me that beauty often arrives gently.

The birds, however, had a different plan.

They were overflowing with excitement, filling the air with the sound of wings as they circled around me like a joyful tornado. Everywhere I looked, feathers danced against the morning sky. It was impossible not to smile.

Romeo was there, greeting me with his usual enthusiasm. Pearl arrived looking as beautiful as ever, standing out among the flock without even trying. Watching her reminded me of something we all need to hear from time to time: the greatest gift we can give the world is simply being ourselves. Pearl never tries to fit in. She was created to stand out, and that’s exactly what she does.

When I called for Domino, she came flying in without hesitation, bringing what seemed like an entire armful of pigeons along with her. Moments later, Honey Girl appeared, perfectly on schedule and eager for her morning peanuts. Some friendships are built on conversation. Ours are built on trust, routine, and a handful of peanuts.

As I continued my walk down the pier, Moo looked up at me with that familiar smile that never fails to brighten my day. Then, just before it was time to leave, Harlequin made sure our paths crossed one last time, almost as if he wanted to say goodbye until tomorrow.

Earlier this morning, I had read a quote that stayed with me throughout the day:

“Imagine reading a book with no way to turn back the page. How carefully would you read it? That’s life.”

Standing there surrounded by birds, ocean breezes, and the warmth of the rising sun, those words took on an even deeper meaning.

Life isn’t meant to be rushed. We don’t get to reread today’s page or rewrite this morning once it’s gone. Every sunrise, every smile, every unexpected visit from a feathered friend is part of a story that can only be lived once.

Today reminded me that joy is often found in the simplest moments. It’s found in a pigeon answering your call. In a little dog looking up at you with love in his eyes. In sunlight breaking through clouds just when you need to see it. In friendships that ask for nothing more than your presence.

This morning was a beautiful page in the story of my life.

And I read every word of it with gratitude.

I am so incredibly blessed.

Capturing beauty, sharing light.
