Morning Reflections
My World Is Full of Wings…
Beautiful Friday morning on the pier. The sun was rising over the beach, filling the sky with that soft golden light that makes everything feel brand new.
Pegleg was the very first to greet me, of course. He made sure I saw him before he got his peanuts, and later he was being his usual little crybaby. I love that they all have such different personalities. The more time I spend with them, the more I recognize every little walk, expression, habit and way they ask for my attention.
Then here came the wings.
Birds flying toward me with Santa Monica Pier in the distance. It never gets old. There is something so beautiful about seeing them recognize me and knowing that the trust between us was built one morning at a time.
Adonis was high above in his lookout spot, keeping watch over everything. Then Clubbie came to see me. She only has one little foot, but she continues to amaze me with her resilience. She simply keeps going.
The pigeons lined the railing, patiently waiting for their turn, and then here came Honey Girl with that crooked little walk of hers. The morning sun caught the greens, pinks and purples in her feathers and made her absolutely glow.
This morning’s message felt perfect:
“Everything works in my favor. What’s meant for me will never miss me.”
Sometimes what is meant for us doesn’t arrive the way we imagined. Sometimes it arrives quietly. Sometimes it walks toward us on one little foot. Sometimes it has a crooked little walk. And sometimes it comes flying straight toward us on a hundred beautiful wings.
I am grateful for them every single day.
My world is full of wings now, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Grateful. Always.
Capturing beauty, sharing light.
