Evening Refections

Marina del Rey Sunset | My Lucky Day…

Tonight’s sunset at Marina del Rey felt like a quiet celebration. The marina was glowing — sailboats resting gently in their slips, masts stretching up into a soft gold and lavender sky. The water was calm, reflecting every bit of light like it didn’t want the day to end.

And then I saw it... A little grebe out on the water, dancing.

He flapped his wings and spun in circles, creating the most beautiful ripples around him. It felt like he was celebrating the sunset in his own joyful way. I could have watched him for hours. There’s something so peaceful about how birds just fully live in the moment.

Nearby, a soft yellow hibiscus was wide open, catching the last glow of the evening. It looked like it was holding its own little sun in the center. So simple. So radiant.

And as I stood there taking it all in, I smiled at my message: “Friday the 13th… my lucky day.”

Some people see superstition.

I see sunsets.

I see dancing grebes.

I see hibiscus glowing in golden light.

Lucky isn’t about the date.

Lucky is about noticing.

Tonight reminded me that we get to choose our meaning. We get to choose what we call lucky. And standing there at the marina, wrapped in peace and gratitude, I felt it deeply.

Capturing beauty. Sharing light.

Always.

Evening Gratitude Thought:

Gratitude turns superstition into celebration. Tonight, a dancing grebe and a glowing hibiscus reminded me — lucky isn’t random… it’s noticing the beauty right in front of you.
