Evening Reflections

A Quiet Harbor of Hope…

Sunday evenings in the marina have a special kind of calm. The boats settle into their slips, the water smooths out like glass, and the sky slowly trades its blues for soft shades of peach and lavender.

Tonight felt especially peaceful.

As I walked along the marina path, the hibiscus flowers were glowing in the fading light, their golden petals reaching toward the last warmth of the day. It’s amazing how flowers seem to lean into the light as if they know exactly where hope lives.

Out on the water, a little grebe was floating quietly, trying to rest after a long day of swimming. Every now and then it would lift its head, look around, and then tuck back into the calm ripples of the harbor.

There’s something about watching the birds at sunset that always reminds me how important it is to slow down.

Nearby, sailboats rested gently on the water, their reflections stretching across the marina like quiet brushstrokes. The whole harbor felt like it was whispering goodnight.

Before leaving, I held up my message that felt perfect for this peaceful Sunday evening:

“Your small act of kindness might be someone else’s biggest moment of hope.”

Sometimes we forget how powerful the smallest gestures can be. A smile. A kind word. A moment of patience.

Just like the soft evening light that touches everything in the marina, kindness spreads farther than we realize.

Tonight was a beautiful reminder that even the quietest moments can carry the biggest messages.

Grateful for peaceful water, glowing hibiscus, sleepy little grebes, and another beautiful Sunday in Marina del Rey.

Capturing beauty, sharing light.
