Morning Reflections
Love Finds a Way (Even in the Rain)
This morning the sky was soft and silver, and the pier boards were still wet from the rain. The ocean felt calm but steady, like it was holding space for something sacred.
Pegleg and the seagulls were the first to greet me — of course. They always know. They stood along the railing like they had been waiting. Wings stretched, eyes bright, completely unbothered by the drizzle.
High above, Adonis was perched on his pole, feathers slightly fluffed against the damp air, looking down at me like a quiet guardian of the pier. There’s something about seeing him up there that makes everything feel steady and right.
I looked underneath the pier where the shadows gather and saw Domino tucked inside, not thrilled about the rain. I gently coaxed her out. She hesitated — but hunger (and love) always wins. Soon she stepped out, and Honey Girl flew in right on cue, just like she always does.
Then the pigeons began circling. Wings in every direction. That beautiful rush of joy that never gets old. No matter the weather, they show up. And I show up.
I held my message in my hand: Rain is not only drops of water. It’s the love of the sky for the earth they never meet each other but send love this way.
And I felt that today.
The sky sending love down.
The birds sending love in.
My heart sending love back.
Every single day I am grateful for this.
Even — and maybe especially — in the rain.

Morning Gratitude Thought:
Rain isn’t just water falling from the sky. It’s love being sent from one place to another. This morning, even under gray skies, love found me — in Pegleg’s greeting, in Adonis watching over us, in Domino stepping out from shelter, Honey Girl on my shoulder and in pigeons circling with joy. Grateful for the kind of love that shows up… rain or shine.
