Morning Reflections
Interrupted Greetings, Unshaken Gratitude
This morning, the pier hummed with a new kind of noise. Power-washing replaced the familiar voices I cherish—the calls, the wings, the gentle hello’s. I wasn’t greeted the way I normally am, and I missed it deeply. But maybe the quiet shift was there on purpose—to remind me not to take it for granted. Adonis stayed high, eyes on the water, unfazed and determined. Pegleg came down anyway, steady and loyal, as if to say some rhythms hold, even when others shift. The clouds stretched across the sky like strokes of softness above crashing waves. Still, beauty persisted, and I stood in it.
