Morning Reflections
Little Wings, Big Love…
What a beautiful Saturday morning at the pier. The sky was filled with gorgeous clouds, the waves were rolling in, and my little feathered friends were lined up along the railing waiting for me. There’s something so special about these mornings that always fills my heart with gratitude.
My little buddy, with his one foot, wasted no time jumping right into my bag! He’s just the cutest little thing, and I love his determination. He doesn’t let anything stop him from enjoying life.
Of course, Pegleg made sure I noticed him! He has a new girlfriend, and I’ve named her Crybaby because she makes the faintest, sweetest little sounds. It’s adorable watching their personalities and relationships unfold.
And then there’s Honey Girl! Just like always, she came up from behind to surprise me. I held out my hand, and my little friends jumped right in. Those moments of trust are something I never take for granted.
But this morning also brought a reminder of why looking after these little lives matters so much.
I found a pigeon whose feet were badly tangled in string, hair, and other debris. It took me about half an hour to carefully free him. As I sat there working to untangle every little piece, I couldn’t help thinking about how much suffering something so carelessly discarded can cause.
I wish more people understood that the things we leave behind don’t just disappear. A tiny piece of string can become a terrible trap for an innocent bird. These beautiful creatures deserve better.
It breaks my heart to see them suffer, but I’m incredibly grateful I was there and able to help this little one today.
Sometimes making a difference doesn’t require anything extraordinary. It simply means noticing, caring, and taking the time to help when something needs us.
“Very soon you will smile and say, this is what I prayed for.”
I believe that beautiful things are always unfolding, even when we can’t see them yet. And sometimes the greatest blessings are found in the smallest moments, a familiar little face, a bird trusting your hand, or a precious life given a little relief.
Another beautiful morning, another reason to be grateful, and another reminder to always leave this world a little kinder than we found it.
Always grateful.
Capturing beauty, sharing light.
