Morning Reflections

Lessons from the Sky

This morning began with familiar joy—Pegleg and his seagull friend greeted me on the Pier, their presence grounding and sweet. The pigeons followed, fluttering in their usual excitement, and Adonis was perched nearby, enjoying his breakfast like a king surveying his domain. Honey Girl came right to me when I called. That moment—her trust, her recognition—has quietly become my favorite part of the day. It’s a ritual now, one that fills me with warmth and belonging. Above us, the pelicans flew in formation. I watched them glide together, one taking the lead, another falling back, then shifting again. It’s always amazed me—how they move as one, adapting, supporting, never competing. There’s a quiet wisdom in their flight. I wish humans could be that way more often. Nature teaches us so much—about grace, about rhythm, about showing up for each other. This morning was a reminder: we’re part of something bigger, and if we listen closely, we’ll hear it calling us to be better.  And then, the pigeons found the water fountain. They played, splashed, fluttered with joy as I held it down for them. It’s their favorite ritual, and mine too. My dream is to get them their own little fountain—just for bathing and play. They deserve it. Watching them light up like that reminds me: joy is simple, and it’s meant to be shared.

 Morning Gratitude Thought

Grateful for Pegleg’s greeting and Honey Girl’s trust. For Adonis enjoying his breakfast, and pigeons full of joy. For pelicans flying in quiet harmony—reminding me that leadership and support are both beautiful. Grateful for mornings that teach me how to live with more grace.  Grateful for the pigeons’ joy in the water fountain—and the dream of giving them a space to play freely. Grateful for mornings that remind me how much love lives in the little things.
