Morning Reflections

Later Than Usual, Right on Time — A New Year’s Lesson from the Birds…

This morning, I walked to the pier a little later than usual. My normal peanut-loving crew was off on their own adventures, but the air was still full of familiar wings. The feathers were familiar—just not the original ones. Different birds, same magic. They greeted me with the kind of excitement that feels like recognition, like remembrance. Little feet hopped on and off me, danced across my phone, even perched right on top of it. Their joy was contagious, unfiltered, and beautifully uncomplicated.

And just when I thought the morning had already written its story, Pegleg arrived—my one-legged reminder that commitments to ourselves matter. I didn’t think I’d see him today… and then there he was. Right on time. The sky was heavy with rain clouds rolling in over the city, the ocean calm before the storm. But the moment felt light. Because nature always meets us where we show up—with open hands, open hearts, and a promise kept.

A new year is near. And the birds reminded me today: Joy doesn’t require perfect timing—just presence. Bring what you love into the new year. Carry it gently. Share it freely. That’s how the light finds you.

Capturing beauty, Sharing light.

Morning Gratitude Thought:

Different crew today, but familiar wings still came. Joy landed anyway. And Pegleg showed me— commitments kept in the heart always return in the moment. Grateful for the gray sky, for the coming rain, and for every small creature that reminds me I’m seen.
