Morning Reflections

Kindness in Feathers…

This morning at the pier was pure magic. Big puffy white clouds floated overhead, casting soft shadows on the water. Pegleg was the first to greet me—balanced and brave as ever. Adonis held his usual perch, regal and watchful. The pigeons bounced around, full of joy, their little feet tapping out a rhythm of recognition. Honey Girl climbed onto my shoulder, just like she always does, waiting for me to tell her how beautiful she is. And she is. That’s the beautiful thing about kindness—it’s universal. Everyone loves it. Even witnessing it can soften the edges of a hard day. Kindness is something we can always offer. It’s free, it’s powerful, and it’s so needed in today’s world. On my walk back to the car, the canal was alive with birds—great blue herons, snowy egrets, great egrets, and black-crowned night herons all fishing in their own quirky ways. One especially grumpy snowy egret kept chasing the others away, flapping and fussing like he owned the whole stretch of water. It made me laugh. Even in nature, personalities shine through. This morning reminded me: joy lives in the details, and kindness is always a good idea.

Morning Gratitude Thought:

Grateful for Pegleg’s strength, Adonis’s watchful calm, Honey Girl’s trust, and the birds fishing in the canal. Grateful for kindness—how it lifts, softens, and connects us all.
