Morning Reflections

Here Come the Wings…

“Autumn. The season that teaches us that change can be beautiful.”

The first morning of autumn could not have been more beautiful.

The sun was rising over the beach, filling the sky with that soft golden light that makes everything feel new. What a beautiful way to welcome the autumn equinox and step into another season.

And then… here come the wings.

There really is no way to describe the feeling of watching them come flying toward me. Wings above me, wings beside me, wings everywhere. No matter how many times it happens, it never becomes ordinary.

Pegleg made sure I knew he was there, of course. The pigeons gathered along the railing, soaking up the morning light and waiting for their turn. And then, right on cue, Honey Girl came from behind. That sweet girl has her routine, and I wouldn’t change it for anything.

Looking at all of them lined up against the ocean, I couldn’t help but think about the message I brought with me this morning:

Autumn teaches us that change can be beautiful.

Maybe that’s one of life’s greatest lessons. Seasons change. The light changes. Our paths change. We change. And sometimes what waits on the other side is even more beautiful than what we thought we were leaving behind.

Summer gave me so many beautiful moments, and this morning felt like autumn arriving with its own little welcome committee of wings.

A new season.

A golden sunrise.

My birds waiting for me.

And another reminder that there is so much beauty to notice when we simply show up for it.

I am so grateful for these little souls every single day.

Hello, autumn. I’m ready for you.

Thank you, life.

Capturing beauty, sharing light.
