Morning Reflections
Earth & Heart — A Morning That Reminds Me We’re One…
This morning felt like Earth Day wrote a love letter… and I got to walk inside it.
The sun rose soft and steady, casting gold across the low tide like the ocean was holding up a mirror just to say, look how beautiful this all is. The waves whispered in, the sky stretched wide and blue, and the beach felt calm in that way that makes everything inside you quiet too.
And then… my birds.
They were lined up on the rail like they had been waiting for roll call. One by one, they came flying toward me—wings cutting through the morning light, full of excitement and trust. Honey Girl landed right on my arm, exactly where she belongs, ready for her peanuts like it’s our little ritual written into the day. Domino came out when I called her, just like she always does. That kind of connection… it never stops amazing me.
I missed Scooter this morning. I felt it. Yesterday I took her to a rehab in Palos Verdes to make sure she’s okay, and even though I didn’t see her today, I know she’s exactly where she needs to be. Love sometimes looks like letting go for a moment so something can heal. I can’t wait to see her scoot back to me again soon.
Down by the water, the little sanderlings were racing together along the shoreline—tiny, fast, fearless. Moving as one. It hit me in the most beautiful way… there is boldness when we come together. There is strength in unity, in showing up, in being part of something bigger than ourselves.
And then I thought about the message I was holding:
“Earth and heart are spelled with the same letters. Think about that.”
We are not separate from all of this. We are part of it. The ocean, the birds, the sky, the rhythm of it all… it lives in us too.
Today is a reminder.
To care. To notice. To protect. To love.
Grateful to be here.
Capturing beauty, sharing light.
