Evening Reflections

Appreciate the Little Things…

Tonight at Venice Beach, the sky wore a soft gray blanket with just enough sunshine peeking through to remind me that beauty doesn’t need to be loud to be powerful. Even with the overcast clouds, the ocean still shimmered quietly, and the air carried that peaceful end-of-day calm that always feels like a gentle exhale.

Before heading down toward the water, I stopped by a birthday get-together my friend Dawn was having. It was such a nice moment to celebrate her, share some laughs, and feel that warm sense of connection that makes the day feel even more meaningful.

On my way down the berm, I did something I hadn’t done since I was a kid. I slid down. No plan, no hesitation, just pure joy in the moment. It made me laugh out loud, sand on my shoes and a big reminder that sometimes happiness is waiting for us in the simplest, most playful choices.

Out over the water, the birds were chasing the fishing boat like they always do. Even from where I stood, I could see their excitement. Their wings cut through the air with purpose and anticipation, a little celebration happening right in front of me. It always makes me smile because their joy is so obvious, so honest.

Surfers were paddling out, steady and patient, waiting for the right wave. One stood still on the sand for a moment, facing the ocean like he was saying thank you before heading back in. That quiet pause felt powerful. No words, just gratitude shared between a person and the sea.

The sky may have been muted tonight, but the moment was anything but. A little sunshine through the clouds, laughter sliding down the sand, birds chasing dinner, surfers honoring the ocean.

It’s in moments like these that I’m reminded to slow down, breathe, and truly appreciate the little things.

Capturing beauty, sharing light.

Evening Gratitude Thought:

Grateful tonight for celebrating my friend Dawn’s birthday, for playful moments that let me be a kid again sliding down the sand berm, and for the ocean’s quiet reminders that the smallest moments often carry the biggest joy.
