Evening Reflections

Beauty in the Details…

Tonight felt like a quiet invitation to slow down.

As I walked toward the beach, passing the canals on my way to sunset, I looked over and saw a snowy egret and a great blue heron hunting side by side. Completely focused. Completely present. The world around them could have disappeared, and they wouldn’t have noticed.

There’s something so powerful about that kind of attention.

Under the pier, the waves were crashing, the sky heavy with clouds. It wasn’t one of those bright, colorful sunsets, but it didn’t need to be. There was a different kind of beauty tonight… softer, quieter… the kind you only notice when you’re not rushing past it.

And that’s when it really hit me—

To slow down is to see the beauty in details most often overlooked.

On my walk back, I turned around and saw silhouettes of people sitting along the sand, just watching. No phones, no distractions… just being there. I love that. There’s something about sunset that gently asks people to pause. And most of the time, they listen.

And then, as if the moment wanted to complete itself, I looked back at the canal. The heron and the egret were still there. Still focused. Still present. Still in it.

Dinner could wait. Time didn’t matter. They were exactly where they needed to be.

And in that moment, so was I.

There’s nowhere else you need to be when you’re fully here.

Capturing beauty,, sharing light.
