Morning Reflections

Domino, the Wing That Opened My World...

Last January 4th, a white pigeon named Domino flew into my life and gently rearranged the way I see the world. She was the very first bird that ever came to me — not for spectacle, not for show, but for connection. In one soft landing, she shifted the lens of my heart.

Before Domino, birds were beautiful from afar. After Domino, they became family up close. She taught me that trust isn’t loud — it flutters in quietly, feather by feather, moment by moment, especially on days when the sky is heavy.

Today, the rain returned to the marina, drumming its familiar song on the water. There was no sun to be seen, but I kept my promise to myself: I show up, even when the sun hides. Because commitment to beauty changes you. Keeping a promise to yourself changes you. And Domino first showed me that love shows up in all weather.

Honey Girl waddled out for peanuts, eyes full of hope. Clubby balanced bravely on one foot like she owns the shoreline. The baby — big-eyed and brilliant — made sure I didn’t miss her sparkle. And Pegleg, my faithful seagull, greeted me first as always, demanding shelled peanuts like the legend he is.

Wings blurred in the rain as birds circled from every direction — a symphony of movement and anticipation. No sun, no schedule shift. Just presence. Just magic. Just gratitude.

Domino changed the way I see them, and somehow, she changed the way they see me too. And for that, I am endlessly grateful.

Happy New Year, friends. The light is always there. Sometimes you just have to look up to find it.

Morning Gratitude Thought:

Even when the sky is gray and the rain blurs the horizon, I remember: Love still flies toward me. Promises still matter. Beauty still waits to be noticed. Thank you, Domino, for opening my heart to the language of wings. A new year begins not with perfect weather, but with faithful presence. I’ll keep showing up — because the light was never gone.
