Morning Reflections

Venice Rain, Winged Welcomes, and Finding Peace When the World Stays In…

Morning rain at Venice Pier feels like a secret kept just for those who stay long enough to listen. The sky was a soft sheet of gray, the kind that makes colors quieter and the heart louder. The waves crashed steadily, rhythmic and cleansing, a natural white noise for the soul.

Before my shoes even touched the pier, Pegleg was there — the first hello of the day, like the opening line of a favorite book. Then came the pigeons, spilling in from every direction, a flutter of excitement despite the rain. And above me, the seagulls hovered in wide circles, gliding effortlessly through storm-washed air, a moving meditation in flight.

I love being one of the only people out in the rain. There’s a peacefulness to the world when the crowds stay in and nature comes forward. The ocean feels closer. The birds feel braver. The moment feels entirely mine.

Rain doesn’t dim beauty here — it reveals it. It softens the noise, washes the world clean, and leaves room for gratitude to land gently, like wings on open air.

Venice, you always greet me with exactly what I need. Today was no exception. A rainy-day reminder: peace is always present… especially when we choose to step into it.

Capturing beauty. Sharing light.

Morning Gratitude Thought:

I love the rain. I love the quiet it brings. I love being one of the only hearts out here to witness it all. Beauty doesn’t need sunshine to glow —sometimes it just needs stillness.

Venice, thank you for the peace.

Birds, thank you for the hello.

Ocean, thank you for the belonging.

Today is gentle. Today is enough. Today is mine.
