Morning Reflections

Determination in the Wind…

Some mornings the wind tries to steal the show. Today at the Venice Pier it was roaring across the ocean, whipping the water into waves and pushing sand across the beach. The lifeguard towers looked like they were standing guard against the gusts, and the birds had to work extra hard just to land.

But they still came.

Pegleg was the first to greet me, just like he always does. He circled above the pier for a moment, riding the wind like a kite, before touching down. I always smile when I see him first. It feels like an old friend saying good morning.

Soon the pigeons began arriving from every direction. Watching them in the wind was incredible. Instead of fighting it, they leaned into it, using the gusts to lift and glide. They looked like tiny kites dancing across the sky.

Domino heard me calling and came flying in from the distance. I love how she knows her name. No matter how windy or cold it is, she still finds her way to me.

Ebony was more determined than ever to land on my phone. That’s his favorite spot, and the wind definitely wasn’t going to stop him.

A pelican nearby had the right idea. He was tucked into a corner taking a well-deserved nap. Even ocean pilots need a little rest sometimes.

Moments like this remind me of something I held up on my message today:

“A gust of wind may change your direction, but not your destination.”

Watching the birds today made that message feel so real. The wind may push them around, but they always find their way.

And just like that, another beautiful morning on the pier. Another reminder that determination wins. Another reminder that life just keeps getting better every day.

Capturing beauty, sharing light.
