Morning Reflections

A Sight to See…

Today was perfect. The sun was rising, and I was met with so many happy faces looking at me. If you had told me 9.5 months ago how much I’d look forward to seeing the birds, I wouldn’t have believed you. There’s just something about seeing someone else happy—it lifts you up. It gives you something to look forward to. They come from all directions. It’s quite the sight to see. Honey Girl was on my hand today—she really wants to be the only one. Clubby balanced on top of my phone, as usual. I just love them. I make sure all the fishing line and string is picked up so they don’t get caught in it. It’s funny—before I saw them differently, I never noticed how much string and line was laying around. Now I can spot it a mile away. It changes their lives when they get caught in it. They lose toes, feet, even their lives. And if they’re resilient—like Clubby and Pegleg—they keep going, even with one foot. Pegleg made sure to greet me before I left. Grateful.

Morning Gratitude Thought:

Grateful for sunrise joy, Honey Girl’s hand landings, Clubby’s balance, Pegleg’s resilience, and the power of noticing.
