Evening Reflections
Dancing Through the First Light of August
Malibu’s sunset offered a new rhythm tonight—birds in motion, surfers in stillness, and the sea in quiet conversation.
The first sunset of August didn’t disappoint. I drove to Malibu for a change of view, and the coast greeted me with its ever-shifting beauty. The pelicans flew in perfect formation, taking turns leading like seasoned dancers of the wind. Their bathing rituals were pure joy—splashing, gliding, laughing in their own way.
A snowy egret tiptoed through the shallows, catching fish with such delight it felt like a performance. The little terns, always so serious, reminded me of military sergeants—tiny but commanding. The waves were gentle tonight, not much for the surfers to ride, but they still seemed content, floating in the golden hush.
Every time I come here, the scene changes. And yet, it always feels like home.
Evening Gratitude Thought
Grateful for the birds who teach me rhythm, for the sea that never repeats itself, and for the quiet joy of watching life unfold in new colors.
