Morning Reflections

Dancing on the Water…

This morning in the marina felt calm and reflective, like the ocean was still stretching awake. The sky was soft and gray, and the water looked like a mirror that hadn’t quite decided to wake up yet.

One of the first things I noticed was someone surf foiling. It always amazes me how it looks like they’re dancing on water, gliding above the surface as if gravity decided to take a short break. It looks so peaceful and fun at the same time. Just watching it makes me smile.

Far out on the horizon, ships were moving slowly through the morning haze. They always make me wonder about the places they’ve been and the journeys they’re on.

Then a surfer caught a beautiful wave while a pelican glided just inches above the water beside him. Pelicans are such incredible flyers. They move so effortlessly, like the wind itself is carrying them forward.

But one of my favorite moments was when the pigeons started flying toward me.

They come from every direction, their wings cutting softly through the air, and then one by one they land on my hand for peanuts. Every time it happens it feels like a small miracle. I love how much their personalities have come out over time. Some are bold, some are shy, some look right into the camera, and some land so gently you barely feel their feet.

I truly believe something beautiful happens when you start noticing the overlooked.

Since I’ve started shining my light on these birds and sharing their stories, their personalities seem to shine brighter too. Sometimes all someone—or something—needs is to be seen.

A little grebe floated nearby, paddling and dancing on the water, completely content in its tiny world.

Moments like this remind me how much beauty exists in the present moment if we simply take the time to look.

Because sometimes the light we shine helps others shine too.

I held my message up to the sky, “Some stars shine brighter when they meet the observer they were waiting for.”

These birds have changed the way I see things. I am grateful for them every day. I have watched them come alive and it's so beautiful to see.

Capturing beauty, sharing light.

Morning Gratitude Thought:

Today, I’m grateful for quiet mornings, open water, and the beautiful souls with wings who remind me every day how special life is.
