Morning Reflections

Choosing the Bright Side…

There is something about watching the sun rise from the pier that makes everything feel possible.

This morning, as the golden light began to stretch across the water, the birds just kept flying toward me. One after another, they came in for their little flybys, circling around me and gathering along the railing. It is truly one of the most amazing feelings. Seeing their happiness makes me happy.

Of course, Pegleg was there to greet me, and high above us was Adonis in his usual spot, looking down and keeping watch over another beautiful morning.

As I walked back, I stopped to see Davide beginning his painting. For the first time, I saw his canvas completely blank. I usually see his beautiful paintings taking shape, but there was something special about seeing the very beginning. A blank canvas with absolutely no indication yet of what it would become. Then, little by little, color appeared.

It felt like the perfect reminder for this morning:

“It is much nicer to look for the bright side than it is to sit in the dark.”

Maybe life is a little like that blank canvas. We don’t always know what the finished picture will look like. We just keep adding the colors, appreciating the moments, and choosing to look toward the light.

This morning, the bright side was everywhere. It was in the sunrise, the wings flying toward me, Pegleg’s greeting, Adonis watching from above, and a blank canvas waiting to become something beautiful.

So grateful for another beautiful morning and another reminder that there is always something beautiful waiting to be created.

Capturing beauty, sharing light.
