Evening Reflections
Be Prepared for Magic…
Tonight, at Venice Beach felt like one of those evenings when life kept whispering, keep looking… I’m not finished yet.
I started the evening with my little message, “Be prepared for magic.” And somehow, that is exactly what happened.
The golden sun illuminated the ocean while surfers made their way in and out of the water. Seagulls chased one another through the evening light, their wings glowing as they stretched toward the sky. And of course, Adonis was high above in his usual spot, watching over everything.
As the sun moved closer to the horizon, I watched it slowly dip into the ocean. Boats and sailboats crossed in the distance, creating tiny silhouettes against that enormous golden sky.
Then came the little sanderlings, racing back and forth along the shoreline on those impossibly fast little legs. And suddenly, they all lifted into the air together. Another tiny moment that could so easily be missed, but becomes extraordinary when you are present enough to notice it.
After the sun disappeared, the evening somehow became even more beautiful.
The clouds began turning shades of pink, coral and lavender, and those colors spilled across the wet sand in the most beautiful reflections. Everywhere I turned, there was something else to see.
And then, at the very end, there was a little girl standing quietly at the edge of the ocean, looking out at that magnificent sky.
It felt like the perfect ending.
Maybe that is what being present gives us. We stop waiting for the big moments and realize that magic has been happening all around us in a hundred little ways.
A bird in flight.
A reflection in the sand.
A wave reaching the shore.
A child staring out at the sea.
A sky that refuses to stop painting.
Be prepared for magic.
Because when you appreciate what is right in front of you, somehow there always seems to be more to appreciate.
Tonight just kept getting better and better.
Grateful. Always.
Capturing beauty, sharing light.
