Evening Reflections
Winter Solstice Magic at Manhattan Beach Pier…
Some days arrive quietly and leave you full. Tonight, the winter solstice met me at the shoreline of Manhattan Beach, where the ocean softened the edges of the shortest day and the light lingered just long enough to feel like a promise. The pier stood steady, its holiday tree glowing gently above the water, reflected perfectly in the wet sand below—like the sky and earth agreeing to mirror one another for a moment.
And then… Santa Claus walked by.
Not in a hurry. Not for show. Just strolling along the waterline as if this was exactly where he was meant to be on the solstice evening. It felt symbolic in the simplest, purest way—kindness still walks among us, even on quiet beaches at dusk.
Down near my feet, the sanderlings were having their own celebration. Racing the waves. Racing the camera. Little bursts of joy on fast-moving legs, reminding me how happiness doesn’t pause to be captured—it just runs, freely and fully, exactly as it should.
The reflection of the tree shimmered in the sand, the birds traced joy along the shore, Santa carried warmth without words, and the ocean breathed its steady reassurance.
Today didn’t need anything added. It didn’t need explanation. It was complete.
On the shortest day of the year, I felt surrounded by light—in reflections, in movement, in unexpected magic. Today was perfect in every way.

Evening Gratitude Thought:
Tonight, I’m grateful for days that unfold without effort. For reflections that remind me light always returns. For birds that run simply because they can. For unexpected reminders of kindness walking quietly beside the sea. On the winter solstice, I felt held by the world. Today was perfect in every way.
