Evening Reflections
Where the Light Finds You…
Sunset tonight along the canals felt like everything was gently falling into place.
The wildflowers were catching the last of the light, glowing softly as if they knew the day was about to close. Ducks and pigeons were scattered along the path, focused on their dinner, completely content in the simplicity of the moment. I love that about them… no rush, no worry, just being.
And somehow, like always, I found a bird.
Or maybe… they found me.
Snowy egrets flew overhead, heading north, quiet and steady like they had somewhere important to be. A pelican passed low over the water, completely locked in on finding his next meal, gliding right over a girl in a kayak who was just peacefully taking it all in. Two different missions, same beautiful moment.
Then a lifeguard boat sped by, cutting through the calm… a quick burst of energy in an otherwise peaceful evening.
As I walked further down the channel, I looked over and saw the purple flowers glowing against the sunset. That contrast… soft and strong at the same time… it stopped me for a second.
Nearby, a black oystercatcher stood on one leg, completely unbothered, like he had mastered stillness. I couldn’t help but smile… he did look like he needed a little sun though.
In the distance, the flag moved gently with the breeze, and on the rocks, a baby cormorant sat watching the world like it was all brand new.
Then a speedboat passed, and for a moment it looked like the birds were chasing it… until they weren’t. They simply passed it, like they were never meant to follow, only to move freely.
And then… the sun dipped into the ocean.
Just like that.
A quiet goodbye.
A promise to return.
Your light may not reach everyone, but it will reach those who are seeking it. Keep shining.
And maybe that’s what this all is…
Not about reaching everyone.
Just about showing up…
And letting your light land where it’s meant to.
Capturing beauty, sharing light.
