Evening Reflections
When the Pelicans Came to Celebrate…
Tonight felt like nature threw a party… and the pelicans were the guests of honor.
It’s the spring equinox, that beautiful moment of balance, and somehow the marina seemed to know. The light stretched a little softer, the air held a quiet kind of magic, and everywhere I looked… there were pelicans.
They were on the rooftops.
They were lined up along the docks.
They were floating peacefully in the water.
And then… there were the moments that made me smile.
One pelican tried to sneak a fish right out of another’s mouth—because I guess when you’re hungry, you’re hungry. No overthinking, no hesitation… just life, raw and real, unfolding right in front of me.
There’s something I love about that.
Nature doesn’t apologize. It just is.
In the middle of all that movement, a cormorant drifted by like a quiet thought—slow, steady, completely unbothered. A reminder that not everything has to rush or compete. Some things are meant to glide.
And standing there, watching it all come together—the light, the birds, the rhythm of it—I felt it again, that familiar, grounding truth:
“It just gets better every day.”
Not because everything is perfect.
But because I’m noticing more.
Feeling more.
Appreciating more.
That’s the real shift.
The equinox marks balance in the world… but maybe the real balance happens inside of us, when we slow down enough to see what’s already here.
Tonight, it was pelicans.
And it was perfect.
Capturing beauty, sharing light
