Morning Reflections

When the Fog Lifts from Within...

This morning felt like a quiet conversation.

The kind where the world speaks softly… and you have to slow down to hear it.

The fog rolled in thick over the ocean, blurring the horizon until sky and water became one. It’s always interesting how, when you can’t see very far, everything else becomes more noticeable. The small things step forward.

Pegleg found me first, like he always does.

Right on cue. Right on time.

The pigeons lined up along the rail, full of excitement, full of trust. Their energy never changes, no matter the weather. Joy doesn’t wait for perfect conditions.

Out in the water, the surfers sat quietly, waiting. Not forcing anything. Just trusting that their wave would come.

And then there was a moment I won’t forget.

One of the pigeons was tangled in string. You could see the struggle… the discomfort… the way something so small had become something so heavy.

But today, I was able to help.

I caught him. Gently. Carefully.

And I untangled what was holding him back.

There’s something really powerful about that.

Not just seeing something that needs help… but stopping long enough to be the help.

Right in the middle of all of it… I realized something.

I missed my yoga class.

And for a second, that little voice tried to remind me… you had a plan.

But then I looked at him.

That tiny life, tangled and trusting.

And I knew…

I was exactly where I was supposed to be.

Some days, alignment doesn’t happen on a mat.

It happens in a moment.

Helping him felt like the purest form of presence.

The kind you can’t schedule. The kind you don’t plan.

And honestly… it was worth everything.

As he flew away, free again, it felt like the fog lifted a little more.

A cormorant skimmed across the water and lifted into the air. A speedboat cut through the stillness. And then, slowly, the sun began to press its way through the fog, turning everything into a soft glow.

And in that moment, this thought settled in:

Your soul knows the direction

when your mind is lost in fog.

We don’t always need clarity.

We just need trust.

Because even when we can’t see far ahead…

we’re still being guided.

And sometimes, the most important thing we can do…

is show up, stay present, and help where we can.

Grateful for mornings like this.

Grateful for the reminders.

Grateful for the chance to be part of something gentle and good.

Capturing beauty, sharing light.
