Evening Reflections
Turtles, Trails & Tender Skies
Today was one of those days that felt like a story unfolding in real time. I drove to the North Shore with a dear friend visiting from LA—two souls chasing beauty together. We hiked Waimea Falls, and though the water wasn’t flowing, the lush quiet still held its own kind of magic. Turtle Beach was our next stop. No turtles at first, but we were determined. We followed a trail tucked between houses, and there he was—just basking in the sun, still and serene. In the water, others swam toward shore, slow and steady. Watching them reminded me of my own paddleboard days, fighting the current, longing for rest. No wonder they collapse into the sand with such grace. We ate lemon pepper shrimp from the Big Wave Shrimp truck—absolutely worth the detour—and cooled off with Hawaiian Shaved Ice, sweet and colorful. It’s those little local flavors that make the day feel stitched into the place.
For sunset, we stretched out on towels at Sunset Beach. The moon hung behind us, and pink and gray clouds drifted by like soft secrets. It felt mysterious, sacred, and shared. And when I got back, a free parking spot one block over. A small wink from the universe. Things are always working out for me. And today, they worked out beautifully.
Evening Gratitude Thought
Grateful for turtles in the sun, shrimp trucks on the roadside, and clouds that carry mystery. For friendship, adventure, and the quiet joy of things falling into place. Today was a gift.
