Evening Reflections
Turn Around, the Moon Is Rising …
Tonight, I walked to the end of the Hermosa Beach pier to catch the rising of the harvest moon. It was directly east of the pier, glowing and bold. I’m so glad I have the app that tells me where the moon is—otherwise, I would’ve been looking toward Palos Verdes and missed it entirely. The sun was setting directly west of the moon, and for a brief moment, they were both in motion—one rising, one falling. It felt like the sky was holding its breath. Everyone was watching the sunset, and I wanted to shout, Y’all need to turn around! This is too beautiful to miss. A seagull was waiting for me at the pier, like he knew I’d be coming. The pelicans glided by in perfect unison, wings wide and steady, painting the sky with grace. The Raven made sure I saw him too—his presence unmistakable, like a quiet nod from nature. I always find my birds. Or maybe they find me. I’m so grateful we have nature. For the moon, the sun, the birds, the pier, and the way it all comes together when we’re paying attention.
Evening Gratitude Thought:
Grateful for the harvest moon rising, the sun setting, the seagull’s quiet welcome, pelicans in graceful formation, and the Raven’s steady gaze. Grateful for nature’s way of showing up.
