Evening Reflections

The Sunset You Can’t See Still Shows Up…

Tonight, the sunset didn’t show itself the way we’re used to.

No fiery colors.

No golden reflections.

No dramatic goodbye.

Just a soft, gray sky stretched gently over the ocean… like a secret being kept.

And yet, I knew—it was still there.

Sometimes we expect beauty to announce itself loudly. To stop us in our tracks and demand our attention. But tonight reminded me that not all beauty performs. Some of it simply exists… whether we see it or not.

And I showed up anyway.

Walking past the graffiti walls, each one telling its own bold story. Palm trees reaching up like they always do, never questioning whether the sun will shine for them or not. A girl roller skating by, flowing through the moment like she trusted the rhythm of life more than the conditions around her.

It made me think… how often do we miss things because we’re only looking for what we expect?

I looked up.

And that’s when everything shifted.

Because when you look up—really look—you realize how much is happening above you. Life tucked into the trees. Movement. Mystery. Maybe even something unexpected… a flash of wings, a quiet presence, a moment you would’ve missed if you stayed focused on what wasn’t there.

The hidden becomes visible when you’re willing to see differently.

Tonight, the sun hiding didn’t take anything away.

It gave something instead.

It invited awareness.

It invited presence.

It invited trust.

“Just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it’s not there.”

The sunset was still happening.

The beauty was still unfolding.

And the magic… was everywhere.

You just had to be willing to notice.

Capturing beauty, sharing light.
