Morning Reflections

Peanut Preferences and Cloud Colors…

This morning started with a sky so pretty I had to jump out of the car on Abbot Kinney just to take it in. The clouds were painted in soft colors—like the day was stretching awake in watercolor. At the pier, the Raven greeted me alongside Pegleg. Ravens love peanuts in the shell—they enjoy the challenge of cracking them open. Seagulls, on the other hand, would prefer you open them first. Now that they know there’s an easier way, they’re not going back. The pigeons go wild for birdseed, but shelled peanuts?! That’s next-level excitement. They can’t open them, but they sure try. Everyone has their preferences. It’s so funny. And they know their names. Domino comes flying in when she hears hers. Honey Girl always lands on my shoulder from behind, like clockwork. Clubby stands steady and strong on her one foot, balancing on my phone like it’s her perch. They brighten my day in ways I never expected. And when I got home? I felt like I was being stalked by the crows—they followed me back, watching, curious, loyal. Grateful for the sky, the birds, the laughter, and the way love shows up in feathers and flight.

Morning Gratitude Thought:

Grateful for cloud-colored skies, peanut preferences, name-knowing pigeons, and the crows who follow me home. Grateful for the joy that flies in and stays.
