Afternoon Reflections
Grateful for the Little Moments Between the Wind…
Today on the pier felt like nature had turned the wind all the way up. The flag in the distance was stretched across the sky, sailboats were leaning into the waves, and clouds floated by while the moon quietly watched from above.
One black-crowned night heron sat high up on a pole holding on tight, patiently observing the fishermen below. He looked completely focused, waiting and hoping for an afternoon snack opportunity to appear. I love watching them. They always seem so calm and intentional, like they understand that good things don’t always have to be chased. Sometimes you simply wait, watch, and trust.
A little pigeon also made his appearance and enjoyed an afternoon peanut snack, which always makes me smile. Tiny moments like that seem small, but they somehow become the moments that stay with me.
Today’s little reminder on my yellow paper said: “Go your own pace in a world that’s always rushing.”
The wind was racing, waves were moving, boats were passing, but the heron, the moon, and the birds all seemed to be saying the same thing… slow down and enjoy the view.
Grateful.
Capturing beat, sharing light.
