Evening Reflections
Finely Tuned…
The first sunset of autumn felt like the perfect invitation to slow down and notice.
Tonight I walked along the Venice Canals, one of my favorite places to watch the day come to an end. The water was so calm that everything seemed to have a second life in its reflection. The houses, palm trees, bridges and fading colors of the sky were all mirrored below.
And, of course, I found the birds.
A whole group of ducks had gathered on a paddleboard, almost like they were having their own little autumn evening meet-up. It made me smile. Then I spotted two ducks paddling through the canal together, with him following right behind her. So sweet. 🦆🦆
Above it all, the moon was already shining, patiently waiting for the sun to finish its turn. And high on a wire sat the tiniest hummingbird, another little detail that would be so easy to miss if I weren’t looking up.
That’s what I love most about noticing.
The more you pay attention, the more there seems to be to see. Your eyes begin looking for the little things. The reflections. The birds. The moon. The way the light changes. Life somehow becomes finely tuned, and suddenly an ordinary walk is filled with tiny moments that feel extraordinary.
The autumn equinox reminds us to let go of what no longer serves us and sow new seeds for what’s ahead. Tonight felt like a beautiful beginning to that new season.
First autumn sunset. A quiet canal. Ducks having their little meet-up. A hummingbird on a wire. The moon waiting patiently above.
So much beauty was there all along.
I just had to notice it.
Grateful. Always.
Capturing beauty, sharing light.
