Evening Reflections

Ducks in a Row at Dusk…

Tonight, at Ballona Creek felt like one of those quiet gifts that arrives softly, without announcing itself. The sky faded into gentle pinks while the crescent moon slipped into place above the silhouettes of the trees, like someone carefully setting the final brushstroke on a painting.

The coots were gathered together, floating close, as if they knew this was the perfect place to pause. Some were still, some were playful, and a few of the little ones were splashing and taking baths, unconcerned with anything except the joy of being alive in that exact moment.

I held the tiny message in my hand and smiled at the reminder: “Appreciate the little things.” It felt perfectly timed, like the creek itself was whispering it back to me.

There was something comforting about watching everything line up naturally. The soft colors. The calm water. The tiny movements that most people might miss if they hurried past. And I thought about how life feels when you stop trying to force the pieces into place and simply notice what’s already there.

Sometimes you’re lucky and you get all your ducks in a row. And sometimes you realize they were already there waiting for you to slow down enough to see them.

Tonight reminded me that gratitude lives in the small moments: the splash of wings, the curve of the moon, the hush of sunset settling over the creek. Beauty is always here when we choose to look.

Capturing beauty, sharing light.

Evening Gratitude Thought:

Tonight, I watched the coots gathered together at Ballona Creek, little splashes echoing across the water while the crescent moon shined above pink clouds and silhouettes of trees. A small reminder floated into my heart: Appreciate the little things. Sometimes peace comes when everything simply falls into place… and sometimes you realize it already has.

Handwritten notes on paper against sunset beach and pink bougainvillea flowers create an inspirational scene.
