Evening Reflections
Didn’t Miss the Light…
Tonight almost slipped through my fingers. I was standing at the parking meter in Hermosa Beach, feeding it coins and patience, and it just wouldn’t cooperate. The sun was already sinking fast, that fiery orange glow hovering right at the edge of the ocean. I could feel the moment closing. So I stopped trying to control it.
I left the meter, trusted the moment, and raced toward the water just in time to watch the sun drop straight into the sea. That perfect line where sky meets ocean lit up like it was waiting for me. I was so grateful I didn’t miss it.
Low tide turned the shoreline into a mirror. Reflections of seagulls skimmed across the wet sand, doubling the beauty, doubling the reminder that you’re never really alone. Above me, seagulls chased one another over the water, playful and free, while others floated quietly below, stitched into the reflection.
I stood there watching the pier stretch out into the ocean, steady and patient, like an open invitation to keep going. Even when things don’t work the way you expect, even when you’re rushing and unsure, the beauty still waits if you show up. Tonight was proof.
There are so many beautiful reasons to be happy. Sometimes you just have to run toward them.
Capturing beauty, sharing light.
